The Harkin Institute hosted a naturalization ceremony on September 15. The Tom and Ruth Harkin Center at Drake University hosted 33 participants and their families as they took the Oath of Allegiance and became citizens of the United States of America. Judge Robert Pratt performed the ceremony and Senator Tom Harkin (retired) helped welcome the new group of citizens.

“While our citizens come from all different backgrounds and cultures, Americans are bound together by shared ideals of liberty and democracy,” said Senator Tom Harkin (retired). “I have no doubt the diverse experiences and perspectives of these new citizens will contribute to the rich tapestry of our country.”
